A proxy jump, or simply proxy, is a technique present in many 3D platformers, including Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II: Renegade, and Jak 3.

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

In Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, known proxies are limited to the use of the flut flut. They are able to be performed in some areas by having the flut flut bounce on lava into a corner. If this happens, it may shoot up into the air and result in a proxy. There is no useful application for this method.

Jak II: Renegade

In Jak II, a proxy can be performed in multiple ways. The simplest of these is to get Jak stuck on foot in certain areas and repeatedly jump to launch him vertically out. This can be extended to more areas by transforming into Dark Giant. Additionally, a proxy can be performed by jumping and landing on top of certain types of parked vehicles while transformed into Dark Giant.

Jak 3

In Jak 3, a proxy can be performed both on foot and on the Jetboard. It is performed by getting Jak either stuck or below a sloped infinite jump ceiling and repeatedly jumping. Notable proxy jumps in Jak 3 include Flag Proxy, Eco Mine Proxy, and Haven Ruins Proxy.
